Pre-school at the Buckingham Bilingual School is pleasant, enchanted and heartwarming. Pre-school invites children to enjoy learning and to develop skills that all youngsters have. Pre-kinder 3 (3 year olds), Pre-kinder 4 (4 year olds), Kinder (5 year olds) and Transition (6 year olds), are made up of small groups of children that enjoy large open areas, modern installations with interactive parks, specialized classrooms for sensorial development. There is a gymnasium for motor development, a games room, a library, computer room and a variety of didactic and ludic resources all to help and support the Development of Intelligence program. The basis for building up learning is the development of human potential. This methodology is complemented with the special attention paid to the stimulation of the specific skills that each child has, thanks to the development of multiple intelligences.
The academic curriculum is complemented throughout these early years with many opportunities for the children to develop other talents such as: music, taekwondo, dancing, swimming, skating and tennis among others.
Special attention is focused on the use of technology and computers as special tools that along with multimedia help with the construction of knowledge in areas such as math, reading-writing and English.
The bilingual model (Spanish – English) starts in Pre-school once the children have acquired their native language. The introduction to a foreign language is done in Pre-kinder and Kinder, leading to the intensification of reading in English in Transition, with the Oxford and Cambridge reading schemes. Students in Transition also manage a basic conversation level. Parents and students interact as a team so that the children are happy while learning for real situations.
As part of our vision of educating citizens of the world, the school is currently in the process of implementing the PYP (Primary Years Program) on students from ages 3 to 11, part of the IB (International Baccalaureate) as a candidate for future certification.
